I remember Street and Smith featuring a photo of Urban Meyer in the Big Ten section. Also recall Earl Faison from Indiana, the big DE who went on to stardom in the pros.
One of my favorites up through about 82 or 83 was Gameplan mag. They used to give a game by game guide for each team and their respective power ratings.
I'll never forget when I was about a 14 year old frosh standing at the magazine stand at the Bayless store on 29th Ave & Northern reading a magazine with Joe Romig of Colorado pictured on the cover. I heard a voice behind me telling me how tough and rough he was. Turned and started listening to Tom Yarger (sp?) our punter and a LB/FB from Washington HS in Phx.
Came full circle in about 06 when our team pilot for my radio show went to a game with me in Boulder to watch his alma mater play tempe. He was on that team with Romig.
