I didn't mean to suggest that people don't have a right to use the "scoreboard" card - that's why they call them "bragging rights," after all. I merely meant that for those of us who've followed the rivalry through the years and consider it the most valuable and entertaining aspect of college football, a sort of "30,000-foot" perspective begins to set in, and any particular victory fades into the larger context once the subsequent season begins. And your comparison between 1985 and 1992 might be a good illustration of that. I was a kid in 1985, but that game just made me sick to my stomach. Probably not as bad as the 1982 game, which hit like a meteor because it was so unexpected, or the 1989 game, which was one I wanted to win pretty badly. But it was horrible, and I couldn't understand how we blew that game. Fast forward to 1992, and it was the reverse, although far less was on the line for either team. Anyway, it seems like these games start to even out over the years, like when we won unexpectedly in 2006 but lost unexpectedly in 1997. Of course, we still haven't repaid you for 1982 and 1985, so perhaps this season will provide that lovely little opportunity... ;-)
